Auto-Responder over use is way out of control and a huge turnoff too. If you are new to the e-commerce world and you run a website that sells something, you might wish to think about this. All too often people will set up their website online to sell their products and services, and then they will want to get all the technologically advanced software to run their enterprise.
Unfortunately, they are in way over their heads because when you just start out in your online business you don't have any customers yet, so it makes sense to call each one of them back and personally talk to them by phone or by e-mail. If you use an auto responder with all your brand-new customers, what you are going to find is that you turn them off before you even get a chance to know them and long before they even have a chance to decide if they want to buy anything.
Why would you do that?
Just because the software exists to automate everything on your e-commerce website does not mean you should be using it, after all you are just a little company, not like a big company that sells hundreds of thousands of dollars an hour over the Internet. Sure it's nice to have the latest of everything, but you must remember that you're running a small business, every single sale counts especially in the beginning.
Indeed, I sure hope you will consider this because as a consumer on the Internet it is a big turnoff to me. If I come to your website and get an automated response each time I send in an e-mail, I can pretty much guarantee you I am not buying a thing.
