PPC advertising is a simple and effective form of advertising also known as 'pay per click' advertising. This form of advertising has proved to be of benefit to both large and small businesses throughout the world. In fact, it is one of the most preferred advertising methods when it comes to online advertising.

With this form of advertising an advertiser will bid on 'keywords' which are entered into search engines. For example, if a website believes that the terms 'cheap movies' describes their website then they can bid on those search terms with various search engines. They basically can bid anywhere from a penny to five-dollars to have their advertisement appear on the search engine results page whenever these terms are entered. These types of advertisements generally appear as 'sponsored' searches. They will appear before other search engine listings or to the right or left of them in advertising links.

As an advertiser you are not charged for these ads simply displaying. Instead you are charged each time that someone clicks on them and is directed to your website. That is why PPC advertising stands for 'pay per click'. Your advertisement can appear to 100 people but you won't be charged until one of them actually physically clicks on your advertisement.

PPC advertising has proven effective for thousands of companies. In fact, it is one of the most strategic and simplest means of advertising that produces results. The only downside can be the cost if you have to fight over and bid higher for popular search terms in order to receive rankings.
