Essential Elements Required when Setting Up a Legitimate Internet Business Website

Friday 10th 2012f February 2012

There are a number of different ways that an affiliate marketer can approach the setting up of their legitimate internet business websites. These websites will depend very much on what the individual prefers as they can be small or large; this is just a matter of personal taste. It really does not make much difference which approach you choose so long as some of the essential elements that are found on practically every affiliate website are there.

1. Content.

Having a website that is just filled with advertising banners and hype will not serve you very well. You need to provide some value if you want your visitors to return and to encourage them to willingly spend money with you.

By adding regular content to your website in the form of articles, anyone who visits and enjoys the information you give will want to return for more. You would need to determine how much content you intend to have on your website when you set the site up. If you are only going to have a few articles and not add new content on a regular basis then these articles can be individually placed on separate pages, but if your intention is to add new content continually so that your website will eventually have hundreds of articles on it then obviously the design will need to be different.

2. Focus.

If you are an affiliate marketer you need to make a decision regarding how many products or services you intend to promote on your affiliate website. There are some affiliate marketers who promote only a few products on their websites while others will promote a whole range of products. This information is important to know when you set your website up as it will make a difference to the overall "feel" of the site.

Whatever your decision is, it should be consistent with the number of offers you are going to promote and whether you want them to be targeted and specific or just general with more of a warehouse "feel".

3. Disclosure.

Since the changes regarding the FTC rules governing affiliate marketers have been instituted, what originally may have seemed quite daunting for the majority of affiliate marketers is in actual fact quite simple.

All that is really required is to add a disclaimer that some of the links on the site are affiliate links. There are various places where this can be placed, such as the footer in the sidebar or on a separate page altogether. The location is not an issue but it does need to be displayed somewhere on your website. So think about this and consider where the best place on your business website will be when you get it set up.

When setting up a legitimate internet business website there are a large variety of things you can do to make your website unique. By creating different colors, images, logos etc., the options are infinite to make your website stand out from all the other affiliate sites online, but when all the differences are removed the three core components that need to be in place will be common to all of these websites and that is, the content, the focus and the FTC disclaimer.
