What Master Chef Taught Me About Internet Marketing

Friday 10th 2012f February 2012

Last night I was watching 'Master Chef' which is a wonderful new reality tv show currently showing in Australia.

I really love Friday nights at that is when they have the Master Chef Class, and the two main judges show the contestants how to cook all sorts of dishes beautifully.

Well George who owns The Press Club in Melbourne ( a fantastic Greek Restaurant) was cooking a Fetta Bilini with Smoked Beetroot dish.

When it came to the beetroot he didn't use it out of a can, he used fresh beetroot which he lovingly put in foil, drizzled with top quality olive oil and rocksalt, then wrapped it up tight much like you would with potatoes and popped them each in the oven...(they would be devine cooked in a Weber too)

George said it would take 45 minutes for the beetroot to cook and when he said that, one of the contestants asked if he could, to save time, BOIL the beetroot instead?

Well, the look on Georges face was priceless!

It was as if he had asked him to drink toxic waste.

George recovered and then very graciously told the contestant that he prefers NOT to boil vegetables as even though it is quicker than roasting they lose all their flavour when boiled.

Sometimes with our internet marketing efforts it is tempting to boil rather than roast. We may rely on our follow ups to do the work rather than take the time to broadcast to our lists personally so that we can develop a relationship.

We may rush coming up with original ads which are a result don't convert as well than if we took the time.

When you take the time to go the extra mile, to truly care about what you are doing with your home business, your customers and your internet marketing efforts then it shows, and just like George's smoked beetroot it is then packed with flavour hence why he is one of the most celebrated Chefs in Melbourne.

Here's to you roasting instead of boiling in everything you do with your internet marketing now and in future and may you thus generate the results you seek online.
